Just a girl...

Hello World,

The school year is in full swing. Admissions assessments are complete (took a whole month) and new applicants are only trickling in at this point. This makes Brittney a very happy girl. Our second assembly takes place this Thursday-let's focus on COURAGE! We had a successful technology conference at our school (in a teachers teach teachers style) and Brittney presented on Google Forms. The Superintendent came to present as well, and he had great things to say about our site. However, the internet was down that morning, and loaded at a record slow speed (bad timing for a tech conference). We survived.

Rumor has is that there will be a women's protest here on October 26....ladies are planning to get in the car and drive...after they put their abayas on, of course. The cleric freaked and sent out a statement that the reason women should not drive is because (see link)

Now we get it...this explains why women from ALL over the WORLD cannot get pregnant. Only Saudi women (from not driving) have adequate ovaries and can have babies. I am so glad they cleared this up for us...

Yeah right, how ignorant can one really be.

I think these ladies should blast this song from their borrowed father's/brother's/uncle's cars on Oct. 26!

In other news. We leave for Japan in less than two weeks. Phillip's high school is celebrating their 100 year celebration and it happens to take place during Eid (a Muslim holiday, we have a week off of school....some consider it 'Fall break').

Our neighbors (he is Japanese, she is Canadian, they met and lived in Japan for a few years) are teaching me Japanese, and it is much easier than Arabic. I practiced how to say the basics, as well as 'I do not understand' and 'I want a lawyer that speaks English'!...You know, the other things you might want to know how to say.

We are also trying to plan our Winter trip. Right now we are considering Barcelona, Sri Lanka, or Kenya.  Any suggestions, anyone want to meet up somewhere?

Until next time,

-B and P
